The banks won't tell you what went wrong.
We will.

Train for Investment Banking, M&A, Private Equity, Venture Capital, DCM, ECM and Corporate Finance. Graded practice on the technicals and fit, then a spoken mock interview that interrupts you and shows you line by line where you lost the room.

Vice president, M&A

Walk me through how a $40m goodwill impairment moves through the three statements.

You

Net income drops by $40m after tax, and cash also falls by $40m, since the impairment is a cash expense.

Vice president, M&A

Stop there. An impairment is non-cash, so you add it back on the cash flow statement. Run the cash flow again.

The answer most
candidates give

“Why investment banking?”

Smart people.

Steep learning curve.

If the answer works for three different banks, it works for none.

“Depreciation goes up by $10. What happens to free cash flow?”

Technical

It falls. It’s an expense, so cash goes down.

It rises. Depreciation is non-cash, and the tax shield is real money.

“This company has negative shareholders’ equity. Worried?”

Superday

Yes. Liabilities exceed assets, it’s insolvent.

Or it bought back a decade of its own stock. McDonald’s and Starbucks have run negative equity for years.

Can you answer these questions?

Company A acquires Company B for $500m, all cash, funded entirely with debt at 6%. A trades at 14x earnings, B at 11x earnings. Assume a 25% tax rate. Is the deal accretive?

B's earnings yield is 1 divided by 11, or 9.1%. The after-tax cost of debt is 6% times 0.75, or 4.5%. The acquired earnings exceed the financing cost, so the deal is accretive.

Not that one. Try again.

The difference is practice.

What you need to train

Clarity

Company-specific mock interviews, set up round by round: HR screen, technical rounds, superday. An AI interviewer runs each round out loud, asks follow-ups and interrupts you.

Speed

Timed multiple-choice questions: a countdown runs on each question, and you pick an answer before it hits zero.
